Navigating Grief
Follow the Process
Are you experiencing grief?
Do you have a loved one grieving that you’d like to understand better?
Grief is an inevitable part of life, but coping with the loss of someone or something you love is undoubtedly one of life’s biggest challenges. You may associate grieving with the death of a loved one, but any loss can cause grief. From the loss of a relationship to the loss of a cherished dream, the grieving process is the only way to heal.
Whatever the cause of your grief, there are healthy ways to cope with the pain that, in time, can ease your sadness and help you come to terms with your loss, find new meaning, and eventually move on with your life.
No matter how subtle a loss, you should never feel ashamed to grieve. Join me for Navigating Grief on Saturday, January 14th at 10:00 am CST to learn more about the process of grieving and ways to manage your grief.
Common Myths About Grief
If you’ve heard any of the following, know that they are merely myths:
-The pain will go away faster if you ignore it.
-It’s important to “be strong” in the face of loss.
-If you don’t cry, it means you aren’t sorry about the loss.
-Grieving should last about a year.
-Moving on with your life means forgetting about your loss.
The fact is that grief is a highly individual experience. There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong,’ but there certainly are healthy or harmful behaviors associated with grief.
